A short introduction
IFoS Main Examination has the following papers.
|Subject||Number of papers||Total marks|
|General Knowledge||1 Paper of 300 marks||300|
|English||1 Paper of 300 Marks||300|
|Optional Subject 1||2 Papers of 200 Marks each||400|
|Optional Subject 2||2 Papers of 200 Marks each||400|
Out of these, General Knowledge plays a crucial role in doing well in the Main Examination. It decides your selection as well as final rank in the IFoS Examination.
From the year 2012, the UPSC has decided to make obtaining a certain minimum qualifying marks as a pre-requisite for evaluating rest of subjects’ answer scripts. This new development has suddenly raised the GK stakes all the more.
All the people who got a Top-10 rank in the IFoS in the recent years have invariably been high scorers in GK.
With such an importance of GK in the IFoS selection process, no serious candidate takes it lightly.
However, one point which many serious candidates tend to miss is that GK for IFoS has its special requirements.
It just can’t simply be treated as an extension of General Studies for the CSE. The questions of IFoS GK are very different in orientation as compared to the Civil Service Examination.
The special needs for IFoS GK must be taken care of specialists. Otherwise, this potentially high scoring paper remains underutilised.
We have been the leading institution for IFoS Preparation for the last seven years, filling almost 50% of the total IFoS seats every year since 2004. With such a rich experience, we are uniquely placed to offer a precise course exacting the requirements of IFoS GK.
