If you are a beginner and want to clear the hyper-competitive UPSC examinations in the very first attempt and that too with a good rank, your choice is obvious. General Studies must acquire the central position in your overall preparation plan. Evolution GS Foundation Course offers you the most complete and most reliable solution for the UPSC Civil Service Examination General Studies and the Indian Forest Service Examination General Knowledge Papers.
GS at Evolution
In recent years, General Studies has become the deciding factor for one’s selection in the IAS. Its importance goes much beyond the GS paper alone. Your command over GS is being tested also through the Essay paper, Interview and even through a number of questions in the Optionals.
When the UPSC announced changes in the pattern of the Civil Service Main Examination in early March 2013, GS and its dependent areas went on to claim nearly 75% weightage in the total allocation of marks for the Civil Service Main stage.
Under the present scheme GS at the IAS Main Examination stage is going to have four papers now. These papers are:
General Studies- I: Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society-250 Marks
General Studies- II: Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International relations-250 Marks
General Studies-III: Technology, Economic Development, Bio diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management-250 marks
General Studies- IV: Ethics, Integrity, and Aptitude-250 Marks
A balanced strategy for IAS preparation would now assign at least 70% of the total time and energy invested in overall preparation to General Studies alone.
This would involve not only mastering the traditional parts of the GS (such as History, Geography, many parts of Indian Polity etc.) but also the fast changing parts (such as Indian Economy, Social Issues, India and the World, International Affairs, Science and Technology etc.).
The task of doing GS entirely on one’s own often proves very daunting due to four factors: 1. Lack of clear, topic by topic orientation on what to study and what to leave; 2. Too much of material on some areas; 3. Too little authentic and properly processed material on certain other areas; and 4. Paucity of time on the part of the candidate.
This is exactly where our GS Course for IAS seeks to contribute. Our scientifically designed GS Course for the new pattern is totally a revamped and upgraded version of our already highly acclaimed GS course.
Our new GS modules are meant to be comprehensive and step-by-step solution to the new GS challenge, even if you are an absolute beginner today.
